Active Support

Active support is the opposite of doing things for people who, with the right support, could do things for themselves. Active support is about making sure people who need support have the chance to be fully involved in their lives and receive the right range and level of support to be successful. We are committed to valuing and developing everyone’s strengths and abilities and supporting people to live life to the full.

The film below demonstrates how to ensure people who need support are actively engaged in decisions about their own lives. Made by Paradigm and sponsored by Three Cs, the successful short film will help providers up and down the country improve the way we support people to have friends and relationships in line with the Reach standards. It focuses on Zac’s right to go to Gay Pride with a friend, or boyfriend, of his choice. Ben who plays the main character Zac took part in two days of shooting and preparation for which he achieved a Celebrating Success award in 2018. Thanks to Paradigm for allowing us to showcase this film on our website.
